Candle Care

Get the most out of your candle.

To get the most out of your candle, there are a few items to keep in mind when burning your soy candle. Regular candle care will prolong the life of your candle and make sure you're getting the cleanest burn possible.

Trim the wick. Always trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting your candle.

Create a burn pool. The first time you light your candle, make sure you burn it long enough so that the entire top of the candle is melted. This will typically take between 2 and 4 hours. Soy wax has a 'memory,' so creating an even burn pool across the entire top of the candle will prevent tunneling in future burns.

Watch the clock. Avoid burning your candle for much longer than 4 hours to prevent the wick from drowning.

Clean out the candle. Always keep the wax pool free of wax trimmings and debris and wipe any soot that might form along the rim of the jar prior to lighting.

Store candles in a cool, dry place. Because there are no additives in Riles and Co. candles, it is possible for them to 'sweat' in very hot conditions or direct sunlight.

Watch your candle. Please never burn your candle in an unattended room, near a draft or flammable object or within reach of children and pets.

Use caution. Remember, the glass jar of the burning candle will be hot, so avoid touching and moving it while burning.
